Services for Charles Maltie will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023. Visitation begins at 10:00 am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Alexandria, Louisiana. Burial will be in Ravencamp Cemetery, Colfax, Louisiana.
Charles Edward Maltie, affectionately called "Brother” by his family and friends, was born on January 3, 1947 to the late Bank Jones and the late Sarah Maltie Hamilton in Colfax, Louisiana. He departed this life on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, Louisiana. Charles lived the majority of his life in Colfax, at the family home, and after his mother’s death, with other family members. At his insistence, he became a resident of Colfax Reunion Rehabilitation Center for a few years. In 2003, he moved to Pecan Grove Training Center in Alexandria, Louisiana, where he lived for the next 20 years. He was content there and will be fondly remembered by the staff and fellow residents.
Charles Edward Maltie was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Freda Olds, Clara Baines, and Lillie Caples; two brothers, William Hamilton and Clifton Ray Maltie.
Those left to cherish his memories are three sisters, Beatrice Maltie and Dorothy Jean Maltie, both of Colfax, Louisiana, and Debra Jackson of Navarre, Florida; four brothers, Rev. Tom Hamilton, Jr., (Lucille), Larry Hamilton (Judy), both of Colfax, Louisiana, Willie J. Hamilton (Esther) of Alexandria, Louisiana, and Alfredrick Jackson (LaWanda)of Boyce, Louisiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
