Services for Deloris Smith Cotton will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at St James Memorial Church in Alexandria, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 with Father Craig Scott Officiating. Interment will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Alexandria.
Deloris Smith Cotton was born on August 8, 1935 in Goudeau, Louisiana to the union of Jesse Smith and Roser F. Smith.
She departed this life on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana
Deloris attended school in Avoyelles Parish and graduated from Carver High School. After graduation she moved to Alexandria, Louisiana. Deloris accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Spring Bluff Baptist Church in Big Cane, Louisiana, which was the church she and her family attended when she was growing up. She remained a member there for the majority of her adult life. Deloris regularly attended various other churches in the Alexandria area and was affiliated with Saint James Catholic Church (her husband 's church).
Deloris was united in holy matrimony to Sylvester G. Cotton, on December 31, 1960, and to this union one son was born, Donald Ray Cotton.
Deloris enjoyed cooking and spending time with her relatives. She also enjoyed helping with the coordination of family reunions. For many years she also enjoyed sewing and would make beautiful outfits for various occasions.
Deloris was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Willie Smith, Sr., Arthur Smith, Jesse Smith, Jr., and Columbus Smith, Sr.; and her sisters, Mamie Swafford and Gladys Smith.
She leaves the cherish her memories a loving son, Donald Ray Cotton of Alexandria, Louisiana; two brothers in law; five sisters in law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
