Leah M. LaCour Hardy

Leah M. LaCour Hardy, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, was born on February 2, 1937, in Woodworth, Louisiana. She spent her life embodying love, compassion, and resilience, and she passed away peacefully in Alexandria, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family.

Leah was the daughter of Mary Ellen Scott Jett and Robert Jett, Jr., and her nurturing spirit was evident from a young age. Raised in a close-knit family, she exemplified the values of hard work and dedication, which she carried into her adult life. Leah was preceded in death by her beloved parents, three sisters, Lilly Mae Nance, Lucille Jett, and Lankey B. Ashner, and a grandson, Glenn D. LaCour, Jr. Their memories remain etched in the hearts of her family, who honor their legacies through the values Leah instilled in them.

Leah’s life was richly woven with love and family. She was married to James LaCour, Sr., with whom she shared eight wonderful children: Carolyn LaCour Reamey (Gary) of Hinesville, GA, James LaCour, Jr. (Nellie) of Brockton, MA, E. Valerie LaCour of Boyce, LA, Martin LaCour (Allen), Beltrand LaCour, III (Jacqueline) of Alexandria, LA, Matthew LaCour (Detra) of Haslet, TX, Glenn D. LaCour, Sr., (Victoria) of Brockton, MA, and Wanda K. LaCour Horne (Charles) of Fort Worth, TX. Leah took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother, and her love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy of family, including two sisters, Celestine Cole and Ernestine Tyler, one brother, Herman Jett, Sr., along with 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Leah was a graduate of Peabody Magnet High School, Alexandria, LA. She built a fulfilling career, retiring as a Residential Training Specialist from Pinecrest State School and as a Certified Nurse Assistant from Lexington House Nursing Facility. Her work reflected her caring nature, and she touched the lives of countless individuals through her compassion and expertise.

A devoted lifelong member of the Oakland Baptist Church, Leah took great pride in her role as a matron, contributing to her community’s spiritual life and fostering a sense of belonging among its members. Her faith guided her actions and provided strength throughout her life.

Leah M. LaCour Hardy’s life was a testament to the power of love and family. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we celebrate Leah’s remarkable journey, we find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to family. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her spirit will continue to inspire those who loved.
